  • Fonty 1880 100% local and traceable wool, Île-de-France) (50g /125m)

1880 is an honest, local, traceable and ethical yarn, made entirely from wool from sheep farms of Ile-de-France. These farms are located around the Fonty spinning mill, with which a fair trading system has been set up. After shearing and collecting the furs, the wool is washed in the Haute-Loire and then pre-combed in the north (in the last two washing and combing factories that are still active in France). The entire processing process takes place close to the spinning mill.
Fonty 1880 is part of Filature Fonty's global eco-responsible approach, reviving the local wool industry. It also aims to rediscover other sheep-origin fibers, with different characteristics and qualities, in a world of knitting wool dominated and standardized by "all-merino".
The name 1880 was chosen on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the founding of the Filature Fonty. It was around this period that the first synthetic pigments appeared, which revolutionized European textiles. The colors of the 1880 series are inspired by the colors that were fashionable in those years and can be found in paintings from the second half of the 19th century, for example in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.

Colors may differ slightly from reality on screen.
